Cake, But No Celebration - Worst Sales Record Broken!
By Damien | January 19, 2011
42,000 copies of an album sold during the course of a week would normally land you somewhere on the charts, but NEVER at #1… Until now.
The Billboard 200 OFFICIAL chart isn’t in just yet but hitsdailydouble.com have reported what should represent this week’s chart, and corresponding sales, and it aint pretty!
The album “Showroom of Compassion” from Cake has landed at #1 on debut after selling only 42,000 copies around America. This goes down in history at the LOWEST total of sales for an album at #1 on the USA Charts, beating the record Taylor Swift set just last week.
Cage The Elephant’s “Thank You Happy Birthday” came in at #2, missing the top spot by only 4,000 units (38,000 sold).
Taylor Swift’s run on top end’s with a 33% dive in sales. He week end total got her to #3 with 36,000 units of her “Speak Now” going from shelves to homes in the US.
Not overly noteworthy, but considering a lot of MJ fans tune into this blog, The Estate of MJ/Sony Music’s album ‘Michael’ sold only 11,000 units this week, a poor enough effort to land him at #31 - down ten places and a 35% sales reduction on last week.

‘Michael’ Worldwide - Week 4
By Damien | January 14, 2011
The Sony Music/MJ Estate album ‘Michael’ (which Michael Jackson himself did not put together or produce) is about to begin what I am going to call the “plummet from the summit”. The reason behind it is mainly the album’s content. The album is packed with songs we have already heard, some songs recorded 30 years ago, and three tracks which 50% of the MJ fan base (including Musicgoss.com) don’t even believe include MJ’s vocals. There are one or two highlights including “Best Of Joy”, which Michael recorded in 2009, but besides that it’s a very forgettable and embarrassing edition to the legacy of music’s greatest ever contributor.
The plummet is already in full effect in most English speaking countries such as USA, UK and Australia, where the album is no longer in ANY of their Top 20 Album Chart markets (it’s even fallen straight off the UK Top 40 charts altogether after only 3 weeks!)
But the fall is only just starting to happen on the Global charts now. Week by week the sales are reducing, steadily but by large margins. Just a month ago it debuted at #1 with 734,000 sales on the Global Albums chart, but this week (only 3 weeks later) the album has racked up only 93,000 sales around the world bringing it’s overall total to 1.5 million.
The album was predicted to be a blockbuster, and made an initial shipment of approximately 3 million units worldwide! That now seems like a major over-estimation and the odds of all 3 million units moving from store shelves to people’s homes is “slim to none” with the more likely of the two options being “none”.
There is talk of more singles being released from this album, but as an MJ fan I am looking to the future. I am looking to forget this mess of an album as quickly as possible and hope that the Estate and Sony feel the same way. In my opinion they need to hit the abort button, and fast!

Michael Jackson’s Slave To The Rhythm
By Damien | January 14, 2011
An unreleased song by the King Of Pop called “Slave To The Rhythm” has been floating around online for a while now, leaked by DJ Stolen. The song was previously littered with DJ Stolen tags.
However today a “clean” version has come out on Twitter to the MJ fans delight.
The song is AMAZING! It’s a sure-fire hit which would top the charts around the world. Michael Jackson at his best.
